BIOGRAPHY

Garrett Berger

Independent Pitching Instructor

In high school I was All-State in football and baseball.  I worked as hard as I could to accomplish my goals and on June 5th, 2001 I became the Florida Marlins 1st pick and on the same day I graduated high school.

Right after getting drafted in 2001 I reported to Instructs and in my second outing I snapped my UCL ligament in half, fracturing my bone to the joint.  After getting a 6-inch screw in my radius bone and having Tommy John surgery, within a month of each other, I spent the next 7 years being a journeyman trying to find my place.  After the 2008 season I decided to get into coaching, I had already been teaching lessons for 7 years at that point.  After over 10,000 lessons and coaching numerous teams the Let's Do It Foundation was formed and the TJPA emerged.

Living in an epidemic of arm injuries only the strong, mentally and physically, will survive.  Being mentally strong is knowing that you can compete outside your level of comfort.  Throwing 90+ miles per hour DOES NOT mean that you are a prospect.  Why?  You still have to get batters out.  Being physically strong is to be able to have a foundation to support the ballistic action of throwing a baseball.

Anyone can teach a player to throw hard, but how to get batters out and compete is an expertise.  I teach how to get batters out while reducing the risk of injury by instilling confidence in my pitchers.
